In search of their first win of 2023, the Elks ,can draw inspiration from their storied past as the Green and Gold throw it back for 90’s Night.

As part of the festivities, Edmonton’s 1993 Grey Cup winning-team will be recognized. Some of the club’s all-time greats will be on hand to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Edmonton’s 11th CFL championship, including Grey Cup MVP Damon Allen, and Canadian Football Hall-of-Famers Willie “Terminator” Pless and Henry “Gizmo” Williams.

The current edition of the Green and Gold is smarting from a 22-0 loss in Vancouver to the BC Lions last week, the first time Edmonton has been shutout since 1976. Edmonton will look to the likes of star receiver Geno Lewis, who through two weeks was the CFL leader with 26.2 yards per catch, and running back Kevin Brown, who had the best game of his young CFL career against the Argos at Commonwealth Stadium last October, when he rushed for 121 yards and scored his first touchdown.

Defensively the Elks have been stout, conceding just one touchdown in each of their first two games, and only 39 points total, the fewest combined points allowed in their first two games of the season since 2012. Edmonton has yet to concede a rushing touchdown. Through the first two weeks of the season, Elks linebacker Nyles Morgan ranked second in the league with 15 defensive tackles while his teammate Jake Ceresna was tied for second in the CFL with two sacks.

Morgan will be taking part in a new Elks fundraising initiative supporting the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, Cleats of Strength presented by MHCare Medical. During each remaining Elks home games, fans can bid on a custom designed pair of cleats being worn by an Elks player, with proceeds going to the Stollery. Each pair of cleats is unique, designed by the player in collaboration with a Stollery kid, and painted by Syngyn Sperling of Momentum Customs.

Edmonton is 8-2 in its last 10 home games and 7-3 in its last 10 overall against the Argos.
