Elks sign two Canadians, Jordan Hoover added to active roster

The Edmonton Elks have signed nationals Shaydon Phillip (DB) and Rossini Sandjong (DL).

The signings were announced Tuesday, with the players subsequently moved to the team’s suspended list as they complete their required quarantine period.

A product of the University of Alberta (2016-17, 2019), Philip signed as an undrafted free agent with the Calgary Stampeders in January before being released by the Stamps during the club’s final round of training camp cuts.

Sandjong was taken 59th overall by Edmonton in the 2020 CFL Draft. The Longueuil, Que., played at York University (2016-19), and was a two-time OUA all-star, including on the first team in 2018.

Also announced Tuesday was the return of Jordan Hoover to the active roster. Hoover had been placed on the six-game injured list on August 3.
