3 Min Drill: Malcolm Frank

In this throwback edition of 3 Minute Drill, we catch up with Eskimos legend Malcolm Frank. The defensive back played with the Green and Gold from 1996 to 1998 and 2002 to 2006. A two-time Grey Cup champion and CFL All Star, he set an Esks record for most interception return touchdowns in a season with five in 2004.

Favourite memory as an Edmonton Eskimo?
Winning the Grey Cup in 2003. We lost in 1996 and 2002 so it was very rewarding to finally reaching the top.

What was your pre-game routine?
I was calm, cool and collected before a game. I just took a hot bath and stretched before I left home or the hotel. I did not have ear phones or anything like that. I just visualized myself making plays.

Funniest teammate?
Gizmo Williams by far was the funniest player I played with and he was a joy to watch on special teams.

What do you miss about Edmonton?
The friendly people and how clean the city is compared to living in Houston.

Best part of your post-playing career?
Teaching kids the fundamentals of playing the game and the life skills that go along with the game of football.

Favourite meal?
A nice steak and shrimp dinner with salad.

Name a non-football talent you have.
I am a U.S. history teacher and I love to debate.

Favourite TV show?
Definitely Game of Thrones.

Last movie you watched in theatres?
Free State of Jones.

Most challenging receiver?
Earl Winfield from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats was the wide receiver that I had the most problems with when I first came to the CFL. He actually made me a better player because that is when I began to study wide receiver strengths and weaknesses.
