Cheering at Labour Day

Edmonton Eskimos
Victoria’s Blog – Eskimo Cheer Team

The Labor Day classic 2012 – what a nail biter! We got the opportunity to travel down to Calgary for the game on Monday and what a close game it was. The atmosphere was tense as the final seconds ticked down on the clock. Our whole cheer team was practically right up against the sidelines, eyes glued to the field. I can’t remember cheering in a game where it was that nerve-wracking. Although the outcome wasn’t what we had hoped for, we are still proud of the Eskimos and had an amazing day in Calgary.

It was a great bonding experience for our team as we got to spend the whole day together. From the bus rides, to practice, to actually getting out to cheer on a different field, it was definitely a day to remember.

One thing in particular that I will remember is how welcoming the Outriders Cheer Team was to us. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by green and gold balloons in our dressing room and homemade treats some of the Outriders girls had prepared for us. We couldn’t have asked for better hospitality. It was great to see some old Outrider’s friends from their team last year and exciting to make some new ones. We also got the opportunity to see their 2013 calendar and do those girls ever look smokin’! It made me even more excited for the unveiling of our 2013 calendar at this Friday’s Labour Day Rematch game.

Look for us tomorrow in the stands before the game, during halftime, and afterwards to get your very own copy for only $10. All of the proceeds go towards sending us to Grey Cup. Our team is eagerly anticipating Friday’s game and we are looking forward to welcoming the Outriders Cheer Team to our home turf. Hope to see you on the field! LET’S GO ESKIMOS!
