Riley’s Blog – Eskimo Cheer Team
This past Monday was the first practice for the Eski-Minis and Eski-Ladies, who will perform alongside the Junior Eskimos and the 2012 Eskimo Cheer Team on the field at halftime on June 21.
As soon as I walked into Perfect Storm Athletics, the official practice facility of the Edmonton Eskimo Cheer Team, I could already feel the energy and excitement building up from all the little Eski-Minis arriving. I couldn’t help but feel inspired to give it my all, remembering these are the people we want to be a role model for. I couldn’t wait to get started!
Having the opportunity to perform alongside all of the Minis is such a big part of why I love being on the Eskimo Cheer Team; I love that as a team, we get this amazing opportunity every year to work with these kids, see their smiling faces, and train children who may one day be the future Eskimo Cheerleaders.
It’s intriguing to watch as these kids progress with their dances each week, as they learn their special routine that they will perform at halftime. It is so wonderful to see all these people working with us from the Eski-Minis to the Junior Eskimos and the Eski-Ladies. It shows how dedicated they are and we are constantly amazed by their drive.
Every year, their faces just glow with excitement while they’re on the field cheering and looking up into the stands. I am so proud that we get to share that special experience with these kids.
Last year was my first year on the team and on the field. I got to share that experience with my mom as she registered to be one of the Eski-Ladies. I was so proud to have her out there with me and this year I will be just as excited to have her there again with me on the field!
The Eski-Minis and Eski-Ladies can still register and come next week to dance with us Eskimo Cheerleaders if they missed the first practice. We would love to see as many faces there as we can to share this with. You can call Perfect Storm Athletics or click here to register.
