Dianne Greenough set to coach Team Canada at World Cheerleading Championships

(Edmonton) Dianne Greenough, Head Coach of the Edmonton Eskimo Cheer Team for the past 17 years,  has been appointed Coach of Team Canada’s 2012 Cheer Team for the World Cheerleading Championships April 27-29 , 2012 in Orlando, Florida. With 35 years of experience teaching and coaching the award-winning  Victoria School Cheer Team, along with the Edmonton Eskimos and her new training facility Perfect Storm Athletics , Dianne has a wealth of experience and is honored to receive this incredible opportunity.

Eskimo Cheer Team Alumni & Perfect Storm athletes David Liska, Jared Rondeau and Kristine Fiske will perform for Team Canada along with  Perfect Storm athlete Nick Jones . This is a first for any Edmonton or Alberta athletes. David Liska and Esk alumni Candace Paradis-Stewart were selected to represent Canada in the Partner Stunting Competition. Team Canada has been dominated with Eastern Canadian athletes since Worlds began in 2005 .

Along with this announcement Perfect Storm Athletics Open Coed “Thunder” team has won a bid to the World Cheerleading Championships. In the gym’s first season- 2011- Perfect Storm competed against 38 teams from 19 countries in the Open Coed Division and finished 5th in the world leaving everyone wondering where they were from! This year they are back to challenge their placing and do even better!

The Open Coed Team will have their last practice with their Team Canada athletes & coach Dianne Greenough on Sunday April 15 from 3-5PM at Perfect Storm Athletics (18536-111 Avenue)   before they head off to training camp for Team Canada.  Storm athletes will continue training until April 24 and join the Team Canada athletes & coac  in Orlando, Florida where they will perform at the Wide World of Sports complex April 27-29.
