Edmonton Eskimos
Kylee’s Blog – Eskimo Cheer Team

We couldn’t have been more excited to cheer at our first home game against the Calgary Stampeders on June 24.  Considering that Edmonton has been deluged with rain and stormy weather, we lucked out and June 24 was a cool evening with just a sprinkling of rain.  We were especially delighted to perform in front of our Esks fans because of our fabulous halftime show which featured the Eski-Minis, Junior Esks and Eski-Ladies.    We were so proud of the great job they did and their energy, spirit, and enthusiasm were absolutely contagious.

The first home game of the season is always just a little nerve-wracking because we are performing with our ‘new’ team.  There is so much to learn and we need to ensure we have everything mastered so we can concentrate on pumping up the crowd so they make our football team know how much we appreciate them.

There is nothing like coming out onto the field for the first time as an Edmonton Eskimo Cheerleader.  The lights and the energy are awe inspiring.  It is an unforgettable experience to stand on the track and look around as 32,000 fans celebrate with us and make us proud that we are Eskimos!  This year we decided not to enter the stadium via the trucks, and instead we swarmed the field to a choreographed routine which will be our signature entry for the rest of the season.  That is an Eskimo Cheer team first!

We know this season will be a great one and we are ready to cheer on the Green and Gold at the next home game on July 9.
