A CFL rookie last year, Weldon Brown played in 16 games (eight starts) and had 26 defensive tackles, 13 special teams tackles, a tackle for a loss (one yard), a fumble recovery and two knockdowns.

A sociology major at Louisiana Tech, Brown saw action at cornerback, kick returner and running back during his college career.  He was the Defensive MVP in the 2008 Indy Bowl where he registered 14 tackles and one interception.

Weldon grew up in Bossier City , located just outside of Shreveport , Louisiana . He competed in football, basketball, baseball and track at Bossier High School .

Weldon was given either a single word or a few words to ponder (the bolded ones) – the rest is all him.

Louisiana is home for me. I went to college at Louisiana Tech, and that is where I met my best friend and soon to be wife, Twila Jauch.

I never say never.

Teammates are like family, some have become life long friends, and they also understand what I am going through.

Edmonton is a city that kind of reminds me of my mother, full of love, laughter, good times, and wonderful people and fans.

Defensive backs I want to be the best DB in the world. You have to have swagger to be a DB. People will either hate me or love me.

Receivers are my opponent, even though I have a lot of friends that are receivers they are good people. They show me the way.

I learned lately that wisdom is the key to living life.

I will never QUIT….at anything that I start.

Training camp is too long, lol. The most running I ever do, but this is where my grind is intense and my focus is 100%. It’s the final test of making the team!

I have always wanted to go to Brazil.

Championships are the highest prize reward for all of your hardwork and efforts. Superbowls, Grey Cup, NCAA, Peewee, just being a CHAMPION.

In the off-season it is a struggle, a time for many tasks to prepare and help me get ready for the season. A time where I challenge myself, asking, “Do I still want to play football?” Which the answer is yes. It is also a learning experience.

As a child I knew I was destined for greatness. I wanted to go to the NBA, but I trained like a football player growing up. Always willing to learn new skills. Football players are players who have many skills.

Losing I hate losing even though losing teaches you to win.

Success I love it! It is the results of my hardwork. Reminds me of what and why I do the things I do.

There is no way I will go without eating.

If I were President we would be out of debt and my military game would be elite. I will make everyone workout to beat laziness, and better their health!

This is Weldon Brown coming to you live from Houston, Tx with my fiancee Twila Jauch. This year will be an amazing year for me, I came into the new year having my fiancee and now we are in a competition through KTBS Tie the Knot in Shreveport, La to win an all expensed paid wedding, where they are going the whole 9 yards for us! We need as many votes as possible everyday til Friday February  11 at 12 pm noon/CST. There are only a few days left to vote but every vote counts.

I have that and also the First Annual “Weldon Brown Day” coming soon with this year’s theme “Tackling Child Obesity” on March 6, 2011 in Bossier City, La at Bossier High School. We will have speakers and a 2k walk/run where we will drop some knowledge on the kids. It is a family event that I want everyone to come out and enjoy. It will be a great time, or “good times” as people in Edmonton say.

I am also preparing for this upcoming season. This is my second season, I am not a rookie anymore. I should be broken into CFL ball and being in tune with my team, and hoping we will win the Grey Cup this season in Vancouver. They will have the new stadium and everything ready for us. This will be a great deal for us.

I also want to say hello to all of my people and our fans in Edmonton, and thank you all for all of your love and the favor God has placed on my life, and I just can’t wait to be back and play for you all again. My teammates in Edmonton, I want to give a shout out to Bossier High School, Shreveport, La my hometown. Everybody, my fiancee again, my mother Candy Green, Casey, Crystal, Kalyn, my dad Roosevelt Brown, my mother and father in law Maryling and Jerry, Grandmama and Papa, Nana and Ken, all my family and friends, everybody!! Also I want to do a biking event in Edmonton when I get back, so be ready to mark your calendars. Thank you and God Bless!!! Go Esks Go # 35.
