2005 Edmonton Eskimos
Danny Maciocia is named head coach and Ricky Ray returned from the NFL as the team would finish 11-7 and third in the West, making the playoffs for the 34th consecutive year. Edmonton would defeat the Calgary Stampeders in the West Semifinal and the B.C. Lions in the West Final to head to 93rd Grey Cup. In a classic game at BC Place, the Green and Gold would defeat the Montreal Alouettes 38-35 in double overtime with Ricky Ray being named MVP while setting a single game Grey Cup record with 35 completions. It would be Edmonton’s 13th Grey Cup championship.
Ricky Ray becomes the third Edmonton player to pass for 5,000 yards joining Warren Moon and Jason Maas.
Sean Fleming kicks 465th career field goal, passing Dave Cutler for 1st on Edmonton’s all-time field goal list.
Rod Connop is inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and added to the Wall of Honour. Willie Pless is inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Wes Montgomery is added to the Wall of Honour.
