Edmonton finished with a 10-8 record, second in the West Division. They would go on to lose in the West Semifinal to the B.C. Lions. This would mark the end of Don Matthews as head coach in Edmonton. The great Henry “Gizmo” Williams would call it a career following the season and would leave being the leading kick-returner of all-time.

In the regular season Nealon Greene threw for 3,059 yards and Terry Vaughn had 94 receptions for 1,216 yards and six touchdowns.

Danny Bass and Hugh Campbell (Builder) are inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.
