The defending champion Eskimos went 13-5 and settled for a second-place finish in West. They would lose to the B.C. Lions in the West semifinal by a score of 24-23.

Tony Woods, Bennie Goods and Leroy Blugh each had nine sacks and John Robert Holland had eight interceptions.  Quarterback Damon Allen ran for a team best 707 yards and threw for 3,554 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Willie Pless wins the Most Outstanding Defensive player award for the second time in his career.
