Edmonton would finish first in the Western Conference with a 12-2-2 record and once again get past the Calgary Stampeders in West Final to set up another match-up against the Montreal Alouettes in the Grey Cup. Tom Wilkinson and Warren Moon would both threw a touchdown pass in the Grey Cup to lead the Double E to a 17-9 win and their second straight title.

Despite being shut out of the Most Valuable Player awards in the Grey Cup, the Eskimos took home three awards that season. Receiver Brian Kelly was named top rookie, defensive tackle Dave Fennell was the Most Outstanding Canadian and offensive lineman Mike Wilson was named top lineman.

Hugh Campbell wins the Annis Stukus Trophy which is presented to the Coach of the Year.
