Quarterback Warren Moon arrives in Edmonton and this year would be the start of the greatest era in CFL history, with the first of five Grey Cup Championships in a row. The Eskimos would end the season with a 10-4-2 record and first place in the West. They would defeat the Calgary Stampeders in the West final and go on to win the 66th Grey Cup with 20-13 win over the Montreal Alouettes. Tom Wilkinson (Off) and Dave Fennell (Def) would take home the Grey Cup MVP awards.

Dave Fennell wins the Schenley as the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player.

This year would also mark the last game played at Clarke Stadium on August 23, as the team moved to the new Commonwealth Stadium. The club would play their first game at Commonwealth Stadium on August. 30 against the BC Lions.
