Eagles Keys is named head coach. The club finished with a 10-6 record and lost to Bud Grant’s Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the West Final. Johnny Bright wins the Schenley Award as the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player. He rushed for 1,340 yards, leading the league in rush yards for the third straight season. Quarterback Don Getty tossed for 2,080 yards, and J.B. Smith had 1,108 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
