OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR & ASST. HEAD COACH

Maksymic returns to Edmonton for a third tenure after having spent the previous four seasons as the Offensive Coordinator with BC Lions. In his time with the Lions, the St. Albert product helped direct an offence that saw quarterbacks Michael Reilly and Vernon Adams both lead the CFL in passing (2021 and 2023), while overseeing Canadian pivot Nathan Rourke’s ascension to one of the CFL’s best QBs and the 2022 Most Outstanding Canadian.

Prior to the Lions, Maksymic served as the Quarterbacks coach for the Edmonton Eskimos from 2016 to 2019 under head coach Jason Maas before being elevated to Pass Game Coordinator in 2018 and Offensive Coordinator in 2019. He was an integral part of the team’s offensive staff that saw Michael Reilly throw for three straight 5,500+ passing yard seasons while accumulating 121 total touchdowns en route to being named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player in 2017. Maksymic’s first stint with the Eskimos occured in 2011 when he served as the club’s video coordinator for two seasons before being promoted to an offensive assistant in 2013.

Between his first two stints with the Green and Gold, Maksymic spent two seasons with the Ottawa RedBlacks – one as an Offensive Assistant in 2014 and one as the team’s Running Backs coach in 2015. The 38-year-old’s first foray into the Canadian Football League was as a water boy for the Calgary Stampeders in 2006 under former EE Head Coach Tom Higgins, before working as a video coordinator in 2007 and 2008. Maksymic also worked as a Graduate Assistant for the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks from 2009 to 2010 while he attended the university.
