DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR & LINEBACKERS COACH

Sherritt returns to Edmonton, the city and team he starred as a middle linebacker for from 2011 to 2018 and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2012.

The Truckee, California native’s coaching career began in 2019 when he was named the Linebackers Coach for the Calgary Stampeders. Sherritt would spend one season in Calgary before joining Cal Poly as the Mustangs’ Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach, a position in which he served from 2020 to 2023.

The former linebacker would return to the CFL in 2024 with the Saskatchewan Roughriders as a member of new Head Coach Corey Mace’s staff. Sherritt was the Linebackers Coach and Run Game Coordinator for a revitalized Roughriders defence that allowed the second fewest yards, forced a league-high 49 turnovers, and boasted the top-ranked rush defence.

As a player, Sherritt was a leader of the Green and Gold’s defence for eight seasons. He was named the 2011 West Division Rookie of the Year, 2012 CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player, and won a Grey Cup Championship with the EE back in 2015.

He still holds the Canadian Football League record for tackles in a season with 130 set in 2012.
