SPECIAL TEAMS COORDINATOR & DEFENSIVE ASSISTANT

Maxie returns to Edmonton after a season away with the Toronto Argonauts. He served as the Double Blue’s Defensive Line Coach and commanded the unit to a league best 48 sacks in 2024. The Argonauts defence helped lead the team to victory in the 110th Grey Cup Championship, forcing Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Zach Collaros to throw four interceptions in the 41-24 victory.

Prior to 2024, Maxie had been a member of both the Elks Coaching staff and Scouting staff, serving as the team’s Defensive Line coach from 2018 to 2023. The 51-year-old began his tenure with the Green and Gold as a Southwest Regional Scout from 2013 to 2015 before making the transition to Linebackers Coach, a title he held from 2016 to 2017.

As a player, Maxie holds the distinction of winning the Grey Cup with the only non-Canadian team to ever accomplish the feat, hoisting the cup with the Baltimore Stallions in 1995. He played 14 seasons in the Canadian Football League with the Stallion, Montreal Alouettes, Toronto Argonauts, Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Calgary Stampeders – winning four Grey Cups in all and was named a CFL All-Star twice.
