On Aug. 29, Edmonton Elks staff and players will be participating in a donor drive at Canadian Blood Services, and we’re asking our fans to join us in supporting this important cause. The initiative includes a blood drive, stem cell and organ donor sign-up.

Elks fans are encouraged to donate any time from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Aug. 29 at Canadian Blood Services, 8249 – 114 Street. For more information and to book an appointment, please visit the Canadian Blood Services website. Anyone donating or registering as a donor at the facility that day will be eligible for Elks swag.

Why Donate?

Blood, plasma, platelets, stem cells, organs and tissues are a critical part of everyday medical care including major surgeries, medical procedures, cancer treatments and managing diseases. You could be helping a child being treated for cancer, a mother who has just given birth, or a father about to have heart surgery. Every donation you make matters. It matters to every patient and their loved ones across Canada.

Mike Beaudry’s Story

Elks quarterback Mike Beaudry has been touched in multiple ways by stem cell donation. Not only is Mike a donor himself, his sister is a stem cell donation recipient. Read about Mike’s story here, and come meet Mike between 3 and 4:30 at Canadian Blood Services on Aug. 29.
