EE mourn the passing of two former board presidents

The Edmonton Elks are saddened to announce the passing of two of their former Board Presidents in Don Carlson and Gary Campbell.

Carlson was named the Edmonton Eskimos Board President in 1978 after originally joining the team’s Board of Directors in 1972. Carlson was also a member of the citizen’s committee that was instrumental in officially establishing the club in 1949.

“Don played a major role with the team at a time when we were making the move from Clarke to Commonwealth and he continued to assist throughout the years as an alumnus of the Board,” EE Legend Hugh Campbell said of Carlson.

Campbell was first elected to the Edmonton Eskimos Board of Directors in 1986, serving as the Green and Gold’s Board President in 1992. He was a graduate from the University of Alberta and held a degree both in Commerce and Law.

Both men were important figures in the long history of the Double E franchise and they were valued leaders within the Edmonton community. The Elks organization extends its condolences to their friends and loved ones.
