TAILGATE SPOTLIGHT: Sarah and Peter Burns

Edmonton Elks games are exciting, but its the great fans of the Double E that make them a special experience. The gameday experience has become even better with the introduction of the EE Tailgate. Because of our great fans, the tailgate has become the go-to spot for fans to mingle before the game.

Over the course of the season, we want to highlight the incredible Season Seat Members that make the tailgate so special. We spoke with Sarah and Peter Burns to see what they love about the unique to football experience.

What made you want to take part in the EE Tailgating?

My husband, Peter, and I are cheer team alumni. So we always knew when we retired that we wanted to be a part of the Green and Gold family still. So we bought a tailgate spot and season tickets. It’s been so fun meeting everyone and telling our stories about what made us become tailgate pass holders.

What has the gameday experience been like since you’ve started tailgating?

Game days are our favourite part of the weekend! We have always watched from down on the field as cheer team members so it’s been fun being a fan in the stands and getting to be a part of the different games and activities that we weren’t able to do before!

What is the best part about tailgating?

The best part about tailgating is having all of our family and friends come out and hang out before the game. It’s been so fun meeting other tailgate members and hearing how long they have been doing it for!

How has the atmosphere changed from the first year to now?

This is our first year having our own tailgate spot. But we did always used to go to our friends spot, and holy it’s getting so much busier and more exciting as more people are seeming to join the tailgate parties!

What would you say to fans who have never checked out the tailgate?

I would say please come check it out!! Everyone is so welcoming and the atmosphere is so fun!! Plus you might be able to snag a few snacks! 😋
