Project $2M: Christmas Bureau, EE partner in community

The Edmonton Elks and Christmas Bureau of Edmonton have partnered since 2006, bringing joy to families, seniors, youth, and children during the holiday season.

Whether providing a festive meal for families, player meet and greets in schools, gift cards for teens, or free family game days, the organizations work together through shared values of respect, integrity, and compassion.

“This partnership with the Edmonton Elks and Project $2 Million has given the Christmas Bureau a new platform to share our message across the Edmonton region, reaching new clients, donors, and partners,” Christmas Bureau of Edmonton Executive Director Adam Zawadiuk says. “We are both committed to making our community stronger, together.”

From coordinating summer carnivals, high school presentations, paint night fundraisers, agency lunch and learn sessions, and volunteer-appreciation night, the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton is engaged with the community year-round to ensure more families, seniors, youth, and children are supported during the holidays.

In 2021 the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton served over 35,000 clients, delivered over 1,200 hampers, distributed over 9,000 gift cards including 4,786 to teens, and logged over 6,350 volunteer hours.

Many people will require the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton’s services again this holiday season, and there are many ways Edmontonians can help.

“This holiday season, it’s important to remember that need looks different for everyone, especially for those people who don’t share their struggles openly. If the last couple years have taught us anything, it’s that our community relies on each other,” says Christmas Bureau of Edmonton Partnership and Engagement Manager, Lisa Dayanandan.

“Whether it’s supporting your local businesses or paying respect to our local unsung heroes, Edmonton shows up. People that are in need of our Christmas services are the ones we see on a daily basis; they are our neighbours, friends, and family – it’s time to show up for them.”
