FAN FAVOURITE AWARD WINNER: CHRISTIAN SAULSBERRY

Saulsberry electrified fans with his explosiveness on returns, creating anticipation every time he fielded a punt or kick that something special was about to happen. The speedy Saulsberry had the CFL single-game high for 2022 with 175 yards on kick returns, and his punt return average of 12.4 was the highest of any Edmonton player with at least 15 punt returns in the last 25 years.

 

PLAY OF THE YEAR AWARD WINNER: KEVIN BROWN

Brown’s first touchdown in Green and Gold embodied his journey to Edmonton. The rookie running back would not be denied, powering through Toronto Argonauts defenders, refusing to be brought down until he crossed the goal line. In that moment at Commonwealth Stadium on Oct. 15, Brown made history for his alma matter, scoring the first touchdown in the CFL or NFL by a former University of the Incarnate Word player.

 

SOCIAL MEDIA STAR AWARD WINNER: AARON GRYMES

While injury kept Grymes on the sidelines in 2022, the popular Elks defensive back kept fans posted on his recovery on his Twitter and Instagram accounts. Always upbeat and spreading positive vies, Grymes also shared posts of his family, and the many good causes he is involved with in and around Edmonton. Additionally, Grymes hosts “Smooth Talk”, a YouTube series in which he interviews Elks teammates.

 

UNSUNG HERO AWARD WINNER: ANTE LITRE

Litre wasn’t afraid to roll up his sleeves and to work all year long, whether that meant blocking for his teammates or taking the rock and plowing through the trenches. In his first season with the Green and Gold, the running back played in all 18 games, carrying the ball 54 times for a career-high 241 yards with one rushing touchdown, while hauling in 16 catches for 89 yards. The Vancouver product also recorded nine tackles, including seven on special teams.
