Elks launch orange shirt in support of Spirit North

EDMONTON – The Edmonton Elks are proud to announce the launch of an orange shirt campaign in support of Spirit North.

The campaign has been spurred by the work of Izaiah Masuskapoe, an Indigenous student at West Edmonton’s St. Thomas More Catholic Junior High School. Masuskapoe submitted his take on the Elks logo after being inspired by the BC Lions recent work with Kwakwaka’wakw/Tlingit artist Corrine Hunt.

Masuskapoe’s stylized Elks logo was first shared by the club on September 30, as the country reflected on the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Masuskapoe’s logo will be available for purchase on a t-shirt, with all proceeds going directly to Spirit north, which empowers Indigenous youth to be unstoppable in sport, school and life.

The shirts will be available for pre-sale online by clicking here, and can also be purchased in-person at the team’s game on October 29 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

The campaign is part of the Green and Gold’s organizational commitment to advancing reconciliation, as guided by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s work.
