Eskimos Team Winners Announced for 2018 CFL Awards

Today, the Canadian Football League announced team winners for the 2018 CFL Awards. Eskimos recipients are:
In this first ballot, FRC representatives from each CFL city, plus the respective head coach, submitted votes for the six categories. Voters were asked to select players from their local CFL club who, through on-field excellence, best represent the award titles.
The 2018 Shaw CFL Awards will be handed out on Thursday, November 22 at the Winspear Centre in Edmonton.
Mike Reilly | Quarterback | Most Outstanding Player
After 17 games, Reilly has completed 389-586 passes (66.4%) for 5,242 yards and 29 touchdowns with 17 interceptions – including a 101-yard touchdown to Derel Walker. Reilly leads quarterbacks in yards thrown. He also had 111 carries for 554 yards and 13 touchdowns. Reilly was named CFL Player of the Week for Weeks 1, 7, 10 and 18. He was also named CFL Player of the Month for June and August.
J.C. Sherritt | Linebacker | Most Outstanding Defensive Player
In 17 games, Sherritt leads the club with 91 defensive tackles a year after returning from a season-ending ruptured Achilles injury in 2017. He also has three quarterback sacks, one forced fumble and two interceptions.
Matt O’Donnell | Guard | Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman
O’Donnell is an integral member of the offensive line and has played and started in 17 games at left tackle and right guard this season.
Kwaku Boateng | Defensive End| Most Outstanding Canadian
 In 15 games this season, the second-year Boateng has recorded 26 tackles and a team-high nine quarterback sacks.
Sean Whyte | Kicker | Most Outstanding Special Teams Player
In 17 games, Whyte has converted 32-36 field goals – including 52-yard field goals in week 1 and 11 and 13. He also converted 37-39 extra point attempts. He also has one single.
Monshadrik Hunter | Defensive Back | Most Outstanding Rookie  
The Green and Gold rookie has appeared in 12 games (nine starts), where he recorded 26 defensive tackles and nine special teams tackles. He also has one fumble recovery and two interceptions which he returned 28 yards.
