At today’s Annual General Meeting, Eskimos President and CEO Len Rhodes announced the Green and Gold has exercised the option year in the contract of General Manager and Vice President of Football Operations Brock Sunderland, extending him through the 2020 season.
Later in the Annual General Meeting, Sunderland announced the contract extension of Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator Jason Maas, also keeping him with the Green and Gold through the 2020 season.

In his first season, the Eskimos recorded a 12-6 record and appeared in the West Division Final.
Prior to Edmonton, Sunderland spent four seasons as assistant general manager for the Ottawa RedBlacks. His term includes two division final victories and back-to-back Grey Cup appearances, winning the championship in 2016 – after just three seasons as an expansion team.
The native of Great Falls, Montana entered the CFL in 2004 as a scout with the Montreal Alouettes where he quickly advanced to Director of Scouting.
Now entering his 15th season in pro football, Sunderland spent six seasons (2007-12) with NFL’s New York Jets in various scouting capacities. The team made back-to-back appearances in the AFC championship during his time with the team (2009, 2010).
Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator Jason Maas
Maas enters this third season as head coach of the Edmonton Eskimos and his eighth as a CFL coach.
In this first two seasons, Maas led the Eskimos to a 22-14 record, with two division final appearances.
Under his guidance, two quarterbacks have been named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player, Henry Burris in 2015 and Mike Reilly in 2017.
Prior to coaching in Edmonton, he spent the 2015 season as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Ottawa RedBlacks. Maas also served with the Toronto Argonauts for four seasons as the receivers coach (2011) and quarterbacks coach (2012-14).
Maas returned to the Green and Gold in December 2015 where the former quarterback spent nine seasons (2000-05, 2008-10). He was twice named the Eskimos Most Outstanding Player (2001, 2004) and was a member two Eskimos Grey Cup championship teams (2003, 2005). In 2001, he earned West All-Star honours. In 2004, he set a league record for consecutive completions in a game with 22.
He also spent time with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2006-07) and Montreal Alouettes (2007) as a player.
