Eskimos Re-Sign James Tuck

The Edmonton Eskimos have re-signed national fullback James Tuck and signed international defensive lineman DeVonte Fields, and international defensive back Monshadrik Hunter all through the 2019 season.

Tuck joined the Green and Gold in September and appeared in his first game in Week 11 and finished with 16 special teams tackles and one forced fumble. Tuck also appeared in the West Semi-Final and in the West Final, Tuck recorded one tackle and one forced fumble. In four seasons in the CFL, Tuck has appeared in 41 games and has recorded 36 tackles and one forced fumble.

Tuck played 26 games in four seasons (2009-13) at York University where he recorded 107 tackles, 15.5 tackles for a loss, 11 sacks, three forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. He won as the team’s defensive MVP two times(2012-13) and received an invite to the CFL Regional Combine in Toronto.

Fields attended TCU in 2012 where he appeared in 13 games and recorded 53 tackles and 10 sacks, which earned him Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year. In 2014, Fields transferred to Trinity Valley Community College and appeared in 12 games recording 51 tackles and 6.5 sacks. In 2014, Fields transferred to Louisville where he appeared in 13 games and recorded 64 tackles and 11 sacks. Fields recorded 21 sacks over two seasons in major US programs.

Hunter attended Arkansas State from 2013 – 2016 where he appeared in 51 games and recorded 222 tackles, and six interceptions – including returning two for a touchdown. In 2014, the son of five-time MLB All-Star Torii Hunter, returned an interception 94 yards for the longest scoring play in GoDaddy Bowl history. Hunter was named to the 2016 All-Sun First Team Defence and is the Sun Belt all-time leader for interceptions returned for a touchdown with four.
