Throwback Thursday: RB Jim Germany

 

Running back Jim Germany has his name all over the Edmonton Eskimos record book.

The three-time 1,000-yard rusher still holds the CFL record for most rushing touchdowns in one season with 18 back in 1981. That same season, he tied the Eskimos record for most rushing touchdowns (four) in a single game back on Aug. 1, 1981.

The New Waverly, TX, product was part of the Esks five-in-a-row Grey Cup dynasty. He teamed up with fullback Neil Lumsden to form one of the most formidable backfields in Eskimos history.

Career Stats:

  • Seven seasons as a member of the Edmonton Eskimos (1977-83)
  • 5,730 rushing yards (fourth on Esks all-time list)
  • 172 receptions for 1,642 yards and six touchdowns
  • 65 rushing touchdowns (third on Esks all-time list)
  • Five-time Grey Cup champion (1978-1982)
