Eskimos set new attendance record

The “Sold Out” sign went up at Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium Saturday afternoon as 62,517 fans poured through the turnstiles to watch the Esks host the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

For the first time in club histroy, standing room only field level tickets were sold in order to accomodate the crowd.

The previous Eskimo single regular season game attendance mark of 62,444 was established Friday, September 5, 2003 vs. Calgary.

Eskimo President & CEO Rick LeLacheur says, “This was a perfect storm – a great rivalry, two exciting first place teams and an incredible shows of support from fans of both the Eskimos and Riders.”
