(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimos today announced that non-import defensive lineman Ted Laurent has agreed to terms and will report to training camp.

Edmonton selected Laurent (601, 305 lbs) in the 2011 CFL Supplemental Draft in exchange for the club’s second round pick in the 2012 CFL Canadian Draft. A native of Montreal, Laurent started over 20 games at defensive tackle and noseguard during his time at the University of Mississippi, and was an invitee to the 2011 East-West Shrine game.

Edmonton Eskimo General Manager Eric Tillman says, “Ted has agreed to terms on a two-year deal plus an option. We’re delighted to have him join our club as we believe Ted represents another step in significantly upgrading our Canadian nucleus.”

Laurent is expected to arrive Friday. Eskimos rookies wrap up a three day mini-camp at Johnny Bright Bowl in Edmonton. Main camp opens Sunday, June 5th at Clarke Stadium.
